For state primary schools, a child is allocated a school in the neighbourhood zone where they live. Neighbourhood schools have an obligation to accept any student who lives in their zone.

If you wish to send your child to a school in a different zone, you have to contact the school directly.

For state primary schools, the neighbourhood zone requirement is more strict. However, there are special situations you can consider:
1. your child has a sibling who has already enrolled in the school;
2. your child is talented in some areas, school can give the child an assessment, and your child may have a chance to get in the school.

Also you consider selective high schools or secondary schools offer Select Entry Accelerated Learning (SEAL) program. Your child needs to sit an entry test and/or get an interview with the school.
