The launch of the revamped My School website has been put off until 2011 because of problems with financial data.

Schools Minister Peter Garrett said financial data to be added to the website needed "further validation and consultation with independent schools".

The agency behind the site, Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA), commissioned accounting firm Deloitte to validate the information.

The study is understood to have found problems with at least 300 schools' data.

"I have subsequently asked ACARA to ensure it fully consults with independent schools so they have the opportunity to review and understand the data," Mr Garrett said in a statement.
