Purpose: For students to gain entrance to a selective or agricultural high school in Year 7. These schools cater for high achieving, academically talented students by providing an educationally enriched environment. Agricultural high schools emphasise the study of agriculture with some residential facilities for isolated students.

NSW - Opportunity Class Placement Tests Year 4Test format: Two test papers (each 30 minutes) containing a mixture of English language, Mathematics and General Ability questions.
When: July
Purpose: To gain entry to an opportunity class in a public school for Years 5 and 6. OC placement provides intellectual stimulation and an educationally enriched environment for academically gifted and talented children.

Year 12 Students must meet course requirements to sit for a state-wide tests:

Purpose: To assess student record of achievement.

VCE exam revision series published by Insight Publications NSW - School Certificate Year 10 Test format: State-wide tests for Year 10 students in English literacy, Mathematics, Science, Australian History and Australian Geography.
When: November.
Purpose: The tests assess individual achievement in the foundation knowledge and skills needed to successfully undertake subjects in Years 11 and 12 and to participate effectively in the wider community.

Test formatIt consists of tests in Literacy and Numeracy for years 3, 5, 7 and 9.
NAPLAN Literacy includes:
• Reading
• Writing
• Language Conventions (which comprises spelling, grammar and punctuation)
NAPLAN Numeracy includes:
• Number
• Algebra, function and pattern
• Space
• Measurement, chance and data.
When: May (These tests will be held in the second full week in May, with the scheduled test days being Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.)
