I read an artical "Got a problem? Blame a teacher" in the Age (27/11/08) by Greg Bowen-Jones.

It indicated " However, the decline in Australian education is not as simple as incompetent management or the odd rogue teacher. There are myriad social issues that affect students' learning that didn't exist to such a degree 20 years ago. Often children go home after school to an empty house with a PlayStation. By the time the tired parents come home from work and cook dinner they have little energy to read or spend time with their children....".

Are we going to blame teachers? I would hope if we could have more dedicated teachers as 20 years ago, students may be different!

I think the people who complain that public education is terrible, are those who can afford private education. They complain and let them pay. Nobody else seems to care. The most important issue is education vs no education.

The ages for compulsory education vary by state. Every child is entitled to a free and appropriate education

This is a very common thing to hear that if thing go wrong for the student then blame the teacher but the problem starts with the student that they don't take interest in their studies, they don't attend classes, they are the ones who don't submit their term papers and at the end blame the teacher for everything!

A very good medium of learning is learning via e-learning medium. Education`s face has completely changed with the new technologies. I have seen many websites which have a portfolio of such offerings. One which i remember now is Vriti Infocom. I have seen their page, it has a combination of self-learning and assessments at your own pace. Seems better than our times!!

I agree education is most important thing. I wouldn't mind to send my children to public schools as far as they can meet my expectation! Some really good public schools have dedicated teachers, but not every one can send their children to those schools. You have to live in the areas. Rather buying an expensive house, simply send the children to private schools, which is cheaper than buying a house!
