Call for an overhaul of the letter-based rankings A-E in schools
Probably you have visited some of our
school ranking pages based on
Tertiary Entrance Rank (TER, ENTER, UAI or OP). However those rankings are for high school only. For primary schools, A to E grades are used for school reports. ACER (Australian Council for Educational Research) chief Geoff Masters has called for a dramatic rethink of the A-E ranking practice as the reporting system can send the wrong message to students about their abilities and potentially lower their self-esteem in school. Moreover, it doesn't provide accurate and adequate information for parents.
The Federal Government is pushing ahead with plans to give parents more data on school performances. Better Education Australia has acted quickly and will continue to provide more information to our wide community.
