Tuition fees
Secondary School - A$6,000 – A$13,000/year, eg. NSW - Senior secondary (Years 11 and 12): A$13,000; Junior secondary (Years 7 to 10): A$11,500
Primary and Junior Secondary Schools - A$5,000 – A$11,500/year, eg. NSW - Primary (Kindergarten to Year 6): A$9,500; Junior secondary (Years 7 to 10): A$11,500

English language tuition varies significantly depending on the course and institution offering the service, with charges ranging from A$3500 to A$13500. For example, in NSW:
Intensive English - A$350 per student per week
TAFE NSW English language fees, High School Preparation course A$350 per student per week

Tuition fees cover the charges for tuition and administration (includes text book hire and excursions up to the value of A$200)

Accommodation costs
Approved by the Department of Education Science and Training, Homestay ensures the welfare needs of an international student are met by living with a government approved family at a reasonable cost. Institutions maintain a register of families prepared to board international students during the academic year and ensure Homestay families are reputable and that they offer accommodation of a reasonable standard. Costs vary from around A$110 to A$300 a week depending on whether the rooms are shared or meals are included. In New South Wales, Homestay weekly fee is from A$240 to A$300 depending on location and program.

Some secondary schools and colleges provide accommodation for international students. Many independent schools provide boarding accommodation with meals and laundry services. costs vary but the average is between A$8,000 and A$11,000 for one year on top of tuition fees.

Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)

Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), is compulsory for international students studying in Australia. OSHC covers you for certain medical costs if you need to visit a doctor or go to hospital whilst you are studying in Australia.

In 2011, the cost for standard OSHC (with Medibank Private) is A$429 per year per single student and A$858.00 for a student with family .
