Plan to offer $7000 bonuses to Victorian public school teachers
The first ever performance pay scheme will be piloted in up to 75 Victorian government schools over the next two years. Both individual teachers and schools can receive the merit-based pay. Teachers will be eligible for annual bonuses of up to $7000.
"The move is a fundamental shift in education, which has traditionally been opposed to introducing merit-based pay.", according to the Age's Education Editor Farrah Tomazin.
