Tips for setting a virtual machine

Change RAM
VM>Settings>Hardware>memory. If the VM is running, it’s grayed out (read only). You have to shutdown the VM in order to change the RAM of VM.

Host Virtual Network mapping
Set a different IP for VM from the host IP

Bridge the network
Edit>Virtual Network settings>Host Virtual Network mapping, e.g. select Vmnet1, select a host Ethernet controller and apply the mapping.

Please note that VMnet1 is bridged to an automatically chosen adapter.

Set Shared Folders
VM>Settings>Options>Shared folders. You can easily add the shared folders here. To access the shared folders, go "\\.host\Shared Folders" or Windows Explorer>My Network Places>Entire Network>VMware Shared Folders>\\.host>\\.host\Shared Folders.
