Job DescriptionURS Corporation is one of the world’s leading engineering and environmental consultancies offering investigative, planning, design and construction phase services in the infrastructure and water resources sectors.
URS Melbourne is seeking engineers to meet its increasing work load on challenging projects within civil infrastructure, water and environmentally focused industry sectors. In particular URS provides engineering consultancy services associated with the design and remediation of major roads and freeways, Local Government infrastructure, drainage works and associated structures. URS are currently seeking engineers to support the delivery of the civil engineering aspects of this business within the Civil Infrastructure group and the position will be predominantly based in these areas. Project examples include detailed design of Geelong Bypass Section 2 and Kings Road Duplication, tender design of M1 Widening and Dynon Port Rail Link and Financiers Engineer for EastLink.
The Civil Infrastructure group however also provides services across other market lines including ground and service water, planning and remediation. There is a high level of interaction between the individual market lines, and all lines draw on the resources of all Workgroups within the Melbourne office and more widely from the resources of the regional and international offices. Therefore the employee will be expected to provide assistance in these areas as required.
Responsibilities/Objectives
ï± Manage projects including:
- meeting project objectives,
- the overall quality of work,
- managing the project budget,
- meeting project timelines
ï± Undertake technical work associated with civil engineering assets, including:
- investigation,
- feasibility studies,
- evaluation of options,
- detailed design,
- preparation of contracts and specifications, and
- technical support through the construction phase
ï± Work within a multi-disciplinary team comprising civil, structural, hydraulic, geotechnical and environmental engineers
ï± Assistance with tenders and proposals
ï± Staff development on projects and mentoring
ï± Participating in workgroup initiatives including business development and technical activities; and
ï± Generally supporting project teams in achieving stated goals
Reporting relationshipsï± Direct Line Management to the Discipline Leader
ï± Indirect Line management to the Work Group Manager, Project Managers and Engineers
