Job Description:
As part of URS’ wider water and catchment business, the Principal Aquatic Ecologist will be responsible for providing the necessary scientific and professional capacity to win, lead and undertake projects for regional bodies, state agencies, national bodies and industry groups.
Based in Victoria, but with a national focus, the position requires key skills in working as part of multidisciplinary project teams across URS’ network of offices. To facilitate delivery of projects the position requires superior communication, consultative and networking skills, and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
An intimate but practical understanding of aquatic ecology as it applies to the catchment scale is required to identify and match technical solutions with management needs.
Responsibilities/Objectivesï± Undertake effective marketing activities related to projects including leading the development of proposals.
ï± Coordinate and deliver projects on time, within budget and to the level of quality agreed with the client at project inception.
ï± Work effectively as a member of local and national multidisciplinary teams including mentoring more junior staff as needed.
ï± Support and as necessary lead Melbourne Office or URS Asia Pacific projects.
ï± Establish and maintain effective client and professional networks relevant to the position.
